December 15, 2020
This past week no residents tested positive for COVID which is a testament to the hard work and diligence of our staff in following the policies and procedures we have in place. There were 4 team members that tested positive, only one of which had direct resident contact in Personal Care (while wearing all appropriate PPE).
Skilled Nursing
Skilled Nursing continues to remain COVID free. Team Members continue to be tested twice a week accordingly to CMS guidelines due to Lancaster county having a 15.3 positivity rate. Only residents that leave the facility will be tested during this time. All team members must continue to wear a medical grade mask and eye protection at all times on the units with additional airborne precaution PPE being worn around any residents who are in isolation.
Personal Care and Memory Support
In Personal Care and Memory Support team members must continue to wear N-95 respirators, eye protection, gowns and gloves when caring for residents. Team members will continue to be tested twice a week with residents being tested once per week. We will continue to follow the procedures we have in place to limit any further spread of COVID-19.
Visitation
Skilled Nursing, Personal Care, and Memory Support will only be permitted to carry out window visitation at this time. Indoor visitation has been prohibited due to the high positivity rate within our county. Compassionate Care visitors will still be allowed if your loved one meets the criteria given to us by Pennsylvania.
Vaccinations
I am sure you have heard that there has been a COVID-19 vaccine approved for use. Walgreens Pharmacy will conduct an on-site clinic for residents and team members. We will be distributing information and release forms to residents, resident representatives and team members in the coming week or two. QPRC has no plans to make the vaccine mandatory but encourages everyone to read factual information about the vaccine and make their own educated decision. We will keep everyone updated on this as we have additional information. While reviewing data, bear in mind the direct contact with our residents and other team members who are caring for our residents. Whether you get the vaccine or not, it will not alter our COVID protocols at this time. PPE, distancing and window visitation will remain in place.
