Over the weekend, we were made aware of additional residents testing positive for COVID-19. Personal Care had 7 additional residents test positive over the last couple of days while residential living had 2 residents test positive over that same time. No residents in Memory Support or Skilled Nursing have tested positive. We have also had 1 additional team member in a non-direct care role test positive for COVID-19.
Personal Care – At this time, we have temporarily suspended meal service in the dining room and all group activities. Our hope is that by taking more drastic measures through Friday, we will be able to reduce the spread and allow residents to enjoy each other’s company in the dining room and activities again on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
We will re-evaluate on the 23rd but will do everything possible to allow residents the ability to celebrate the Christmas holiday together. We ask families wishing to visit or take residents out of the facility between now and then to use caution. While visiting in the facility, families MUST wear a face mask at all times while in common areas. While it is not required to continue wearing one while in the resident’s room, it is strongly recommended at this time. When taking the resident out of the facility, it is recommended that they avoid large gatherings as COVID-19 transmission is increasing throughout Lancaster County again.
Memory Support – We remain incredibly thankful that Memory Support remains COVID-19 free. As we approach the Christmas holiday, I would again remind families to be extra cautious and ensure you are wearing your facemask AT ALL TIMES when in the common areas in the community. While the facemask may be removed while visiting with your loved one in the privacy of their room, it is still strongly recommended that you leave it on during the entirety of the visit. If you are taking your loved one out of the facility, we strongly recommend avoiding large groups of people and limiting interactions with others.
Residential Living – While no changes are being made at this time, we continue to ask that you monitor yourself for signs for symptoms of COVID-19 and get tested if you begin exhibiting any of them immediately. Skilled Nursing – We remain incredibly thankful that Skilled Nursing remains COVID-19 free. While it is not an ideal time to have COVID-19 cases popping up in the community, we will do everything possible to ensure everyone is able to have the best Christmas possible. I would again ask for your help in using appropriate precautions to help us ensure we are able to offer our residents an extraordinary Christmas experience.
